Rules For The Wrestling/Practice Room

MAIZE WRESTLING CLUB

TEAM RULES AND CONDUCT

NO CHILD ABUSE WILL BE TOLERATED.

All wrestlers need to be respectful to their coaches and teammates. They also need to represent themselves, their family, their club, their community, their coaches, and their teammates in a positive manner at all times.

Courtesy and respect are required from both wrestlers and members of their family. Rowdiness, bigotry, boisterous and destructive behavior will not be tolerated. If you create trouble or controversy, you will discredit yourself, the Maize Wrestling Club and the sport of wrestling.

Respect and follow the Maize School District policies (www.usd266.com) when using their facilities. The club will not be liable for accidents nor be responsible for reimbursement to the High School for the damage that your kids caused.

Parents will demand and support an environment free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all wrestling events.

Parents, if you need to meet with a coach, please do not approach a coach during practice or competition. That time is reserved for the coaches to coach the team and focus on wrestling. Please wait until practice is over or arrange a meeting time outside of practice or competition to meet with the coach.

Parents, please be a positive influence to your child. If you disagree with a coach, referee, or anyone else affiliated with wrestling, please keep those comments to yourself, but especially not vocalize those to your son/daughter. As soon as you do that, they start questioning referees, wondering whether they should listen to coaches, etc., all of which create a negative atmosphere and hinder your son/daughter from focusing on improving their skills. Let’s work together to create a positive experience for all the kids in our program.

We encourage parents to participate in the Club, however, if you stay to watch practice, please be considerate of the coaches and wrestlers. We require our wrestlers to stay quiet so they can hear their coaches; we need everyone in the wrestling room quiet as well. If other people are talking while a coach is talking, it may distract wrestlers and cause them to miss important information.

All wrestlers must be on the mat and be ready to start practice at the scheduled time. We also expect our parents to be prompt as well. Please pick up your son(s) or daughter(s) on time. Our coaches have families as well and obligations that they need to attend to at the conclusion of practice.

Practice Attire: Wrestling shoes are required on the mats. Do not wear wrestling shoes outside; bring them to practice and change in the wrestling room. Shorts, T-shirts, sweats or singlets are worn at practice. No baggy clothing. Head gear is recommended in practice but not required.

Fingernails must be clipped short and no jewelry allowed.

All gear (including water bottles and miscellaneous trash) needs to be cleaned up after each practice.

In order to avoid skin conditions, it is required that wrestlers wear clean clothes to practice each day. To further avoid these skin conditions, we recommend that wrestlers should shower immediately after practice. If a wrestler develops a skin condition, he/she must have permission from his/her family doctor or the head coach prior to returning to the mat.

Wrestlers are required to wear a Maize Wrestling Singlet to all the tournaments that the club is participating in. Maize Club singlets, headgear and other clothing apparel are available for purchase through the club.

If Team Rules and Conduct Policies are violated the Maize Coach and/or Club may take following Disciplinary Actions:

Address the misbehavior and direct the parties back to what they’re supposed to be doing.

Sit them out on the side and have them watch.

Suspension from practice and tournaments.

Dismissal from the team.

There are no refunds of any fees when a suspension or dismissal from the club takes place.

Parents, please review these rules and issues of conduct with you wrestler(s) and all sign below acknowledging that you are familiar with the Maize Junior Wrestling Club Team Rules and Conduct Policies and Disciplinary Actions and agree to abide by them.
