"Welcome To the Maize Wrestling Club"
Wrestling is a unique sport in that it provides both physical and mental development. We are a club that provides wrestling instruction for youths (girls and boys) ages 4 - 16. Our purpose is to support wrestling at all levels, promote the sport to the public and develop amateur athletes for wrestling competition in the local area.
Our emphasis involves the fundamentals that will help each wrestler with physical and mental growth. Our club promotes a safe, positive and friendly atmosphere where those interested in wrestling can learn about the sport. We focus on good sportsmanship, respect for authority and skills needed to achieve success both on and off the mat.
Our club attends several tournaments both home and away. These tournaments are often with other area clubs; providing an excellent opportunity for the youth to put the skills learned at practice into action on the mat. Tournaments provide newer wrestlers a taste of the tournament setting along with opportunities to meet other new wrestlers. Young wrestlers are encouraged to stay and watch our high school meets. Viewing the sport at this higher level is an excellent learning tool and provides valuable support for our high school athletes. A hard working attitude is a must in order to be successful. Public support of Maize Wrestling helps us bring opportunities to the youth.

Coaches Meeting: 8:30 a.m. WRESTLING TO START AT 9:00 A.M.Awards: Medals will be presented to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in each bracket.
Registration: Registration forms must be received by February 6, 2009. The following information must be provided for each wrestler: Name, USA Wrestling Card Number, Weight Group, (exact if HWT), age group, years of experience, (do not include current year), rating (see rating guidelines below)(A) EXCELLENT – Usually 1st Place (B) Good – Consistent 2nd/3rd Place (C) Average – Usually 4th Place (D) Novice
Bracketing: 8-Man double elimination power brackets (with the following exceptions). Brackets with fewer than five wrestlers will be wrestled as round robins. Will bracket by ratings and years of experience (novice wrestlers will be bracketed separately when possible) We reserve the right to combine any age/weight.

AWARDS: Champion ring awarded to the 1st place finisher in "A" brackets only. *If a bracket is split into A/B and C/D – C/D bracket- 1st place finishers will receive a custom 1st place medal not a ring. Custom 3 inch medals to all 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers
PLEASE RANK WRESTLERS: A, B, C, or D (all wrestlers w/o a ranking will be considered A)
Outstanding wrestler trophy awarded for each age division.
